We have a biter

by samantha on October 12, 2006

For what I think is the third time, I had to sign an Incident Report at daycare today. Carter is biting.
He’s attacking the other children with his new found teeth. He is inflicting senseless pain on other small children. He’s a monster normal toddler.

The only thing pisses me off is that the parent of the child that is my son’s teething ring is complaining. She’s bitching that she wants the children separated so that Carter is not biting her child. Granted, I completely understand; I would be upset too if my child has come home more then once after being attacked by the same child. BUT doesn’t she even realize that it’s a normal stage of childhood development? Doesn’t she know that it’s a phase that children face and get past?

So when I picked Carter up today the child care workers are asking me what I think we should do. Um, am I not paying you a small fortune to know the answer to that question? Fucked if I know. I’m really at a loss. We’ve been trying everything. The kid’s even biting himself! I know it’s teething… but how do you explain that to the parent whose child is constantly the target of my son’s need to bite?

I breathed a sigh of relief when the girls told me that there is no way that Carter will be removed from the daycare. Can you imagine?? We haven’t even started school yet and Carter gets expelled. Oh Lordy.

So, I am looking into different teething toys, ways to divert his attention from this child and ideas to curb this behaviour, to appease this parent. Gawd, my kid’s a fucking bully already.
