Sleepless nights, and it’s not our kid!!

My sister in-law came for a visit this weekend with her baby girl and boyfriend; which was really nice since we haven’t had a visit with them in about 2 years. Their little girl - who Mike lovingly refers to as “lightweight” is 5 months old. Very adorable, until about 2am and 6am when she announces to the entire house that she is indeed awake and in need of some TLC.
Not used to another child in the house, I proceeded to kick tap Mike and let him know that it was his turn. To my delight he informs me that it’s not our child crying. YES!! I don’t have to get out of bed!
Poor Lightweight proceeds to cry for about 40 minutes, all the while I am holding my breath and praying that Carter doesn’t wake up.
After Lightweight’s got the attention she craves and was peacefully back to sleep, I put my arm around Mike and asked, “Wanna make Carter a sibling?”
He then throws my arm off and rolls over and says, “Not for a loooooong time.”

Why is it that the crying of other people children in the middle of the night is the ultimate birth control?
