We’ve had a reoccurring mould problem in this house over the past year. It’s making me worried sick about my child’s health. I don’t *think* that it’s the “serious” kind of mould, though, I know that no mould is remotely good for your health.
The first instance was in the summer. We found mold in Carter’s bedroom closet. We ripped out all the baseboards and sprayed, filled the voids underneath the cement board and haven’t seen anything since.
We got a new driveway this fall since it was in rough shape, but the basement leaked because it was sloped towards the house. That part has been fine, but we’ve now noticed that there is mould growing in an area that was never noticeably wet before. My dad and Mike, the true handy man that they are, went into the crawl space and devised a plan to correct the problem - which by the sounds of it, they have no idea.
We are now spending the evening retrieving items that have been stored in that spot and removing drywall and insulation. Great. Fucking. great.
This stuff always seems to happen right around Christmas too. I am just crossing my fingers that it’s not worse then I suspect or my weekend will not be pleasant. Nor will the next couple months while we think up a real solution to this very growing problem. Damn old houses.
