I am a huge music fan. I used to be one of those people that could rhyme off and entire album, artist, etc. Everything. I was no music connoisseur by any means, but I could hold my own. Now, it’s a different story. I hear something, I like it, I listen to it. I can’t remember anything about it. I get by. I really can’t even remember the last time I bought a good CD, let alone a CD. My taste has become much more mainstream; frankly it’s nothing to brag about.
For Christmas this year I bought Mike a Bose 3-2-1 surround sound system (I did not pay the price in that link, btw) for the TV instead of the coveted XBox 360 that he so animately requested. It was a last minute impulse buy that I am actually very excited about. It’s also a receiver, so it plays radio and CDs and such. Great purchase if I do say so myself.
So I have been using th radio on this system lately and have actually found a renewed love for music. Maybe it was the fact that I haven’t been listening to it as it was intended to sound? Maybe I just needed a good system to listen to it with? The one in the car is really great, but it’s really no comparison when all I listen to in the car is children’s CDs.
I do have a what was once decent stereo; I bought it with my hard earned cash from my first paying job – about 10 years ago; so needless to say, it probably lacks what newer systems would spew out these days.
Does this mean that I will find the inner music connoisseur just begging to be released, to explore the world of new indie music? Meh, probably not. But the new system will make for some righteously bass boasting Backyardigans episodes.
