Earlier this month there was a competition at Mommy Blogs Toronto for a two day pass to BlogHer with all the bells and whistles. One of our own, selflessly put her very own pass up to be won by a fellow blogger since she was unable to attend. The bloggers vying for this coveted BlogHer pass had to complete an entry describing how blogging has empowered women. Eventually a winner was chosen and IzzyMom is now the proud owner of a two day pass.
What’s the point you wonder? Well, throughout reading entry upon entry I was utter and completely touched by one post. Her eloquent insight into how blogging has, in fact, only empowered a small number of women throughout the world. Women with the capability as well as ability to use the internet; women who are free to express their opinions and feelings without repercussions for their actions, be it a violent spouse or their cultural oppression.
…Blogging is not an option for most women. Blogging cannot empower women who lack the financial means. Or women living in controlling or abusive relationships whose partners do not permit them access to a computer. Or women who are working 2 jobs to provide for their kids and no time for anything else. Or women who live with physical, mental or learning ability challenges. Or women who are being oppressed in a hundred ways all over the world…
That paragraph has stuck with me. So much so, I was moved to comment, but was speechless. The blogger had put so much effort and feeling into her post and it was truly evident in her writing.
Had she not been the one to donate her own BlogHer tickets, or a contributor to MBT, I would have yelled from the roof tops that she should win with this post. So this will have to suffice.
For that, I am presenting Sandra from Sunshine Scribe with this month’s Perfect Post Award!

Congratulations Sandra! Well deserved.
Go read her thought provoking post.

Thanks again Sam. You rock!

Great choice for a PP Award. Like you, when I originally read Sandra’s post, I told her that SHE should win the ticket - only she was the one donating it!
