It’s Friday morning.
I leave in 5 and a half hours.
I’m still doing laundry.
I still have to go to the bank.
I need to pack the car.
I need to get snack foods for the drive.
Did I seriously just make a laundry list of the things I have to do? Eek. Sorry.
Mike only had to work 4 days of ten hours shift last week, so he’s home today to listen to me complain and whine that he’s not coming and I have to do this all alone see us off. Which is GREAT because he can totally occupy Carter while I run around like a chicken with my head cut off; provided, of course, I get my ass in gear and get off this damn computer real soon. Every time I think about everything I have left to do, the fact that my dad’s going to bitch because I packed so much shit (Hello! Blame that short dude who says NO! NO! NO! all the time. HE did it.) , and the drive: I have to pee.
I pray I survive this drive. I haven’t taken a 16 HOUR Muthafucka! 16 fuckin’ hours! road trip since I was 14. And it wasn’t with my parents. Or a toddler. I’ve never driven more then 5 hours in a car with my family. I am so nervous.
I just pray that they don’t want to have any in depth conversations - like about marriage, debt, moving (because we’re still considering that), or us having another baby or something. Could you imagine being trapped in the car, no where to go, while they start trying to educate me on the importance of good credit and not too much debt? Kill. Me. Now.
Because we all know parents have this knack for having in depth and important conversations when they know you have no method of escaping. Or is it just mine?
I was totally cool about this vacation when it was suggested; now? I’m fucking losing my shit.
FUCK YOU iPod! Dammit!
[Note to the newcomers: I'm talking about the damn iPod that hasn't arrived because the shipper never sent it until 9 days after I freakin' won it.]
Must leave you now. I have so much stuff left to do, it’s insane.
Procrastination has got me once again. Evil procrastination!
Fuckity, fuck. Damn procrastination and iPods: they’re out to get me I know it!
If I don’t totally lose my shit between now and Saturday evening, I’ll try and update you with something.
Heck if someone ain’t dead, at least I’ll have good fodder.

I’m feeling your pain. I haven’t had to do 16 hours (stab me in my eye with a butter knife), but we just did 9 hours with me, HockeyMan, BitchSister, GrumblingBrotherinLaw, and two toddlers in my minivan. Not fun.
Keep the DVD playing running over and over and over and over.
I’m here for ya sister.

Hehehehe…I’m totally laughing at you right now. Sorry.
You are gonna do just fine in the car. You can always catch up on your zzzzz’s while they are trying to natter at you. And what about the DVD player for Carter?? Life saver!
Good luck and have fun! xoxo

Labor day weekend for me was my wife’s grandparents 65 wedding anniversary, and the entire out-of-town cadre (17 strong) descended upon them and us without warning.
“Surprise! Now give us shelter and feed us for four days.”
I watched a “Wheel of Fortune” Marathon with them, and ground several milimeters of enamel of my molars.
I survived, and they can’t prove that the snakes in their beds were from me.
Have a safe trip.

I’ve done a 16 hour trip once or twice in my life… *Sigh*
Think happy thoughts. And, why is it parents have to be like that?
Good god! It’s going to be okay!

By the time you see this, you’ll be back. Or there. Or something. I hope your trip is great. I hope you have no mishaps, or if you do they’re FUNNY and BLOGGABLE. See ya when you get back!

I’ve missed alot too! Where are you going? And dude…16 hours in a car with either one of my parents would be enough for me to impale myself on the stick shift. So, um, good luck with that.
