I tried to construct a beautiful post about Maddie, but I am just so devastated by her unexpected passing that I can’t gather the words I need to express how wonderful this child truly is.

Madeline’s gorgeous little face, beautiful smile and hilarious expressions always manage to make my heart melt just a little more. Her light, so bright, is a constant reminder of the beautiful innocence of a child.

I wish more than anything that this weren’t true.

I wish more than anything there was something I could do to ease the pain her parents are feeling. I can’t even imagine.

Bless you sweet Madeline, you will be in our hearts forever.

At the request of Mike and Heather, please, in lieu of flowers, donate to The March of Dimes in Memory of Madeline Alice Spohr.

{Update}

Heather’s website was taken off line by her host this morning due to high traffic demands on the server. After attempting to buy them dedicated service or an upgraded plan failed I called out to twitter for help of someone with a dedicated server of their own. Jennifer (@PrincessJenn) came to the rescue offering her server to the Spohr’s site.

Everything has been redirected to her server. Heather’s URI remains the same just her site is hosted on a server that can willing accept the traffic this tragedy has brought.

What happens now? Heather’s site may take some time for people to view because of dedicated name server changes and internet service providers’ IP addresses: mostly tech talk. What I can tell you is that the site has been graciously stored by Jennifer and once your internet service providers’ IP addresses reset the site will be visible. When that will happen all depends on your internet service.

I am absolutely humbled by the outpouring of love and support seen today. I can’t even fathom what this may mean to Heather and Mike, but I can tell you that I am in awe of the human spirit and the love of people whom can and will rally behind a family in need.

Donations for Maddie’s service can be made by visiting Meghan (AMomTwoBoys)’s site: A Mom Two Boys as well as in memoriam of Madeline at her March for Babies profile. Let’s try and get to $20,000 for sweet little Maddie and her wonderful parents!

Thank you for all that you’ve done.

Oh Sam, I’m so so very sorry and saddened by this news. I was following Maddie’s story and praying for a healthy recovery and this breaks my heart. She was a beautiful child and although I never got the chance to meet her, its obvious from that picture alone that her light was brighter than the brightest star – I can see how remarkable she was. My thoughts go out to her family. I really don’t have the words to say how sorry I am for them, or to sympathize. Sending them strength, love and good vibes though.

Thank you for working with Meghan and Jennifer to get Heather’s site back up. I think that in the middle of all this sadness it’s really important for Heather and her husband to know just how many people care and are thinking of them and Maddie.

Bluehost really disappointment me and when I go looking for a new host, it will not be with them.

I will go donate now and only wish there was more I could do. My heart aches for them all. You’re all doing a great job re: the re-hosting dramas. That’s the last thing anyone needs. xxxx

In the face of devastating sadness, what a gift it is to be able to channel that energy to make things happen — restoring Heather’s site, rallying people to give for the cause, undoubtedly providing plenty of emotional support for Maddie’s parents.

Thank you for all that you are doing. It breaks my heart to think of what Heather and her family must be going through right now but they are blessed to have you in their lives. -Christine

Oh my, this is the sadest horrible news. I’m Absolutely heartbroken.

My water broke at 17 weeks myself, that led me to the path that I”m now on…

I lost one of my twins after my daughters were born and my surviving preemie is 3.5 years old.

I am actually the Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes for the SF Bay Area, and am on the State Family Teams Council. I’ve asked some folks from the March of Dimes Family teams to reach out to Maddie’s parents to see how they can help….

Feel free to email me directly so I can help the MOD folks get in touch to help or offer support.

I also run a support group for moms of Micro Preemies.
