It’s been close to a month since I’ve had a microwave at home. We had an over-the-range mounted microwave before and it obviously had to stay. We bought a new over-the-range to match our new stainless steel appliances (*squeeee*) but it has yet to be installed.
I never thought I would feel so out of sorts without a microwave. I’m not just out of sorts about it, I am damn near homicidal, people.
It wasn’t always this bad.
At first I felt bad that Hudson had freezing cold milk in the morning instead of it warmed as he was used to.
Then, I got irritated because I couldn’t heat left overs on a whim like before.
Now, I get angry because I forget (STILL!) that we have no microwave (STILL!) and I’ve left the frozen veggies until last and now I have to put them in a pot on the stove.
It’s to the point where I look at my ratty existing hood over the new! shiny! range and I am filled with hatred.
Not to mention the fact that some moron (surprisingly not my husband ) installed a ceiling fan overhead. What’s so weird about that you wonder? Well, nothing. There’s nothing wrong with that.
But what IS wrong is that said ceiling fan is too close to the cupboard doors above the stove and (do you know where this is going?) should the fan be on at the same time as one tries to open the cupboards for spices all hell will break loose and I’m sure my roof would be taken off.
I imagine it would look something like a prop on a boat.
Only not.
Whatthefuckever. It’s Friday. This is all you get.
I *think* someone is coming to install my microwave on Sunday. Right AFTER I have people over for Carter’s fourth birthday. Convenient, no?
I was SHOCKED to see how many of you on twitter don’t use a microwave at all. Then I began thinking I am like, the laziest mofo on the face of the earth. Especially if I am about to go homicidal over not having a microwave. Thanks for making me look so bad. SHOCKED, people. Like so shocked I now NEED to have microwave popcorn and I can’t.
Fuckyouuniverse.

There are people who voluntarily live without microwaves?
Who are these people? And how DO they eat microwave popcorn? Seriously…
Lol. My mother’s stove and washing machine and dryer broke for, like, 5 years…. she cooked everything in the microwave and toaster oven, and washed clothes in the bathtub.
But yeah, I can totally see how no microwave would make you homicidal. LOL.
No microwave?!? That’s blasphemous, like, like, no TV! Or no toilet!!!
For serious, though, I honestly can’t remember NOT having a microwave in my 31 years (and I’m sure there was a point where we didn’t), and I would be completely lost without mine, too. How the hell would I make rice? I don’t know HOW to make it without the microwave! D:
my microwave and I lasted three days before i got a new one.
I absolutely cannot imagine life without a microwave. There are so many things that I can live without but this is not one of them. With two kids and a full time job, that thing has saved many a meal-time.
I hearya loud and clearly!!! We rented a beach house near my folks’ home for 6w this Summer. I couldn’t believe there was no toaster or microwave in the house. I lasted 5 days before I headed out to Kmart to buy both. I now have them stored in my folks’ basement in case the next house we rent doesn’t have one or both.
my micro intermittently belches big, popcorny belches even though we haven’t made popcorn in it for like….I don’t know, a really long time.
this essential news brought to you by your friend, flutter.
I would probably just stand confused in the kitchen if I didn’t have a microwave.
You keep your microwave in the kitchen? Pfft! All the cool kids keep their microwaves in the basement.
I went without one for 2 years and LOVED it. BUT, I must admit that when I finally did get a new one, I truly appreciated the convenience.
NOW, last night as I scrubbed the caked on SHIT that was inside of it because I couldn’t stand it anymore when I heated my coffee–I was determined to throw the flippin’ thing away. It’s my adult kids who “cook” their every meals in it (when they don’t go through fast food instead) and don’t bother to clean it.
My
adult childhusband does the SAME thing. HATE.Ridiculous. Why would you live without a microwave. It’s just so USEFUL! Do they also live without TV? How about the INTERNET?
I am one of the whack jobs that lives without a microwave. On purpose. I even make popcorn on top of the stove. I know, it’s like I’m Amish. Except with a computer. Oh and a car and electricity. Um also, I hardly ever wear a dress and I don’t sew. Ok… not so much Amish. But, you get the idea. Mah popcorn is the shiz though…
Never mention food in front of a prgnant woman – you’ve got me craving microwave popcorn now.
And no, I can’t understand how people could live without a microwave either. I’d go psycho by the end of the first week, if not before!
