Specifically bad hair.
Seven years old, I went for a haircut. I was very specific about what I wanted; everyone was doing it, and I wanted to too. I begged and pleaded until I was finally allowed, after all, it’s hair, it grows back, right? (Sounds familiar, no?)
Well, I was more then excited when I left the salon with my new do. I remember admiring it in the mirror when we got home.
I remember the picture my mom took, and I cringe when I see it. Cringe.
I can’t believe she let me do that to my head! It was a NIGHTMARE!
It was probably really funny to her at the time, that’s why the pictures; after all, she could very well use those as bribery in my teens.
People. It was the mid-80’s. What was hot then?
A mullet.
Hockey hair.
Business upfront, party in the back.
Full. on. mullet. for this girl. I wasn’t messing around. Long and straight in the back, with short spikes on the top.
Oh, how I am so grateful I don’t have a picture to scan for you! *shakes head* What a mess.

Ahh the mullet. We can say what we want about it, but it is still around while say Steven Segal isn’t. Think about it. The man’s own hair trascended his career! How impresssive is that?
Also Uncle Jesse and Michael Keaton rocked those mullets back in the day. For real.

I love it! *sigh* I had a horrible femullet when I was about 13…it’s funny now, but I’m glad that look is over.
Or, is it? Over here in Europe, it seems to be slowly coming back. I plan on remaining out of style if it comes back in full swing.
Seriously? It’s making a comeback!? That’s something I NEVER thought would happen.
So, if you have it in Europe now, it will hit North America in about 5 years… LOL

I’m not sure which was worse, mullets or wings. Sadly, I had a combination of the two.

The Toby Keith one is the nastiest. I hate the curly mullet. Something about it is so icky.

lol. I look like a freak in my third grade picture. Pink silk dress and a crazy muller. It was about an inch long and spiky in the front and down to my butt in the back. It makes me wonder what my Mom was smoking to allow that…Good to know I wasn’t alone.

Ok Pee Sizzle…how you gonna play my beloved Metallica like that?! They did not have mullets! Lars, maybe a little…I blame Sweeden. But no way did Kirk, James or Jason rock a mullet.
And Jesse and The Rippers were hot.

*snickers* I never had the mullet. The corkscrew, early 90 curls, oh heck yeah. But never a mullet. I was too sophisticated for that. And Dog’s is just kinda….scary. Especially when next to Beth’s tatas.
