Many of us self-hosted wordpressers use the Taragana.com plugin for copyright infringement on our feeds.

You know the one? It looks like this:

See where it’s underlined? Please contact legal@mooshinindy.com so we can take legal action immediately ? As great as that is, it’s complete useless UNLESS, of course you have set up an email account called LEGAL!

(*waves* Hi Casey, I’m picking because I love you.)

So let us make this plugin relevant, shall we?

I’ve edited my plugin so it appears like this:

See where it’s underlined and says:Please contact temptingmama [at] gmail [dot] com ….

That way anyone trying to contact you doesn’t get their message sent back and their attempt to help being in vain.

Here’s a very simple step-by-step way to edit the plugin for your site:

• Make sure to have a back up of the plugin. If you damage it, WordPress will simply disable it from your site.

• Open the ‘Plugins’ tab on the top right of your admin panel in wordpress.

• Select ‘Edit’ on the far right of the Angsuman’s Feed Copyrighter row.

• Find the line:

// Change this to your email address to handle legal affairs. The default is legal@YOUR_SERVER_NAME.
$legal = ”;

(It’s mid-screen.)

• Now you’re going to edit that line to say:

// Change this to your email address to handle legal affairs. The default is temptingmama [at] gmail [dot] com.
$legal = ”;

• Choose an email address that you want to have all (if any) notices of infringements sent to.

• Make sure that you spell out the [at] and [dot] to deter any bots for picking up your email and spamming the crap outta you!

• Save the changes to the plugin and you’re on your way!

The setting changes will take a little bit (like maybe 24 hours) for your feed to pick it up, so don’t fret if it’s not there immediately!

Aqua Dots are dangerous?! What a surprise! Have you seen the commercial? I was horrified when I first saw these things; just wondering how safe they were and who the fuck thought that up!?

Here’s a tidbit for ya:Your mouth has saliva: saliva is WET.

The tiny dots stick together PERMANENTLY when they get wet.If that wasn’t a hazard enough… now they’ve actually recalled them over something entirely different?

In my defense for missing yesterday’s NaBloPoMo post, I had it already and preset to post since I couldn’t be near a computer yesterday.

I enter this this into evidence…

I had preset it with help from the wonderful Miss Britt.

[Because *apparently* the directions for editing the time stamp where just too simple that I knew there had to be more to it all. Fuckin' WordPress.]

I thought I had done everything right… except… Count. The. Days. Yeah, apparently I picked for Sunday instead of Friday. I created the post on Thursday… I don’t know how I could have miscounted.

I blame Britt. It’s better then admitting that I may have fucked up.

Does this mean I still failed NaBloPoMo?

Here I am. Finally in the realm of WordPress. I bought the domain in January and have been diligently trying to learn this platform. There’s still bugs to sort out, but I think I’m getting it. Thank you to Karen and BellaMommy who held my hand along the way (instead of holding my head underwater as they may have wanted to at some points). It’s a whole new world from Blogger and I think I am going to be very comfortable here.

So if you have random posts showing up in your readers (because I assume you’ve updated your feeds), then you’ll get to read all the great stuff again. Suckers.

And if you know how to retrieve comments that I’ve lost between a WordPress.com free site and this one, please enlighten me! They are trapped in cyberspace somewhere and I want them back!!

I am still contemplating a move to wordpress. I just don’t know. I like the features they have to offer but I am just damn cheap is all; I’d have to pay for an upgrade to be able to design my blog templates and I don’t know if I want to do that. Soooo, for now, I think it’s here I stay.

I did, however, make the leap to Blogger Beta today. So far, so good. I haven’t a complaint (yet). Though, if you’re noticing something “off” drop me a line and let me know!
